Hello My Name Is...
Welcome to Visual Art! My name is Rebecca Marquez your K thru 5th grades Art teacher. I am a graduate of the college of Liberal Arts with a degree in Art Education from the University of Texas at El Paso. I am delighted to teach your child this 2014-2015school year. I have taught for the EPISD district for 19 years, 17 of those as a Bilingual teacher. I teach at two campuses and alternate between them bi-weekly. This class is designed to provide a foundation for understanding art. The students will study about various forms of art and how it is applied in art history, culture, techniques and hands-on application of media. Students will learn about the Elements of Art and Principles of Design through activities, and class work that enables them to develop their creativity, imagination, problem solving, specific content vocabulary and builds self-confidence. All children need an outlet for expression and finding their individuality. It is important for me to create an environment where they feel free to make mistakes and in doing so it becomes an opportunity for them to learn about art and how it applies to the world around them.
